Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is, in its simplest translation, Universal Life Energy. It is referred to in other cultures as “chi” “prana,” or “spirit.” It is the life force that exists in all things. The practice of Reiki is the art and science of channeling this universal life energy, or force, to promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
How Does Reiki Work?
Reiki involves directing the natural flow of universal life energy; and can best be likened to recharging a battery. When a battery’s energy is low, it doesn’t function well. By introducing a charge to it, it can once again run on its own. Reiki works in much the same way. If a client is suffering from illness, stress, or fatigue, their energy supply is lessened. Reiki assist the body in bringing its energy level back to its natural flow, thereby enhancing the body’s own natural healing powers. With Reiki, you’ll find you are healthier and “catch” less common illnesses, colds heal faster, cuts and broken bones heal in less time; and stress levels diminish.A body in balance is a healthy body.
What Happens During a Reiki Treatment?
A Reiki treatment is conducted through a series of carefully orchestrated touch patterns. The client lies down on a standard massage table (fully clothed) and, beginning at the head, the practitioner moves their hands through these patterns down to the client’s feet. Each position is held for approximately two to three minutes. A full treatment lasts about one hour. The touch is very gentle-Reiki is not a massage technique, but more of a “lying on of hands.
Who Can Benefit From Reiki?
Quite simply, everyone can benefit from a Reiki treatment. If you are basically healthy, Reiki works to help you stay clear and balanced. If you have been diagnosed with dis-ease, received an injury, or find yourself dealing with any other source of stress, Reiki can assist the healing process. For those times when a person is transitioning from this world, to the next, Reiki makes the journey easier and more peaceful.
The best way to understand and appreciate Reiki is to experience it by having a full-body treatment. Reiki is for everyone and it is available to anyone who wants it. I feel honored to be a part of the work I perform and privileged to experience firsthand the benefits gained by my patients. Reiki consists of a one hour private session and costs $45.00 per session. Most patients get optimum benefits by having a session at least one time per month, but some opt to receive treatments bi-weekly or even weekly. I look forward to meeting you and getting to know and assist you in your journey.
REIKI (TOUCH FOR THERAPEUTIC RESULTS)
Reiki is based on an ancient form of healing support revived in Japan during the 1800’s and brought to the United States in 1930. During a treatment the therapist gently touched the fully clothed patient on the head, trunk, and extremities as well as all of the joints. This modality is likened to Acupuncture without the needles in that it opens up blockages in the flow of energy between the body, brain and major organs and joints, utilizing the same meridians and neuro-pathways. Each patient experiences unique results from Reiki and depending on the individual, those results can be any or all of the following:
· Reduced anxiety and stress · Ease of pain, discomfort and stiffness · Less medication side effects · Clearer electromagnetic pathway activity to the brain (more alert) · Support for the bodies’ natural ability to heal itself · Enhanced energy and increased awareness · Improved and more restorative sleep · Increased well-being, joyfulness and overall enhanced enhanced quality of life.

Why People Need Touch What is the significance of human contact, of touch? Rachel Remen, a doctor who has been practicing for more than twenty years speaks of touching as a deeply reassuring, healing, and nurturing phenomenon. We experience touch through our skin. A piece of skin the size of a quarter contains more than 3 million cells, 100 to 340 sweat glands, 50 nerve endings, and 3 feet of blood vessels. Touch is essential she says; it provides comfort, security, warmth, and food.
Literally all people need to be touched. For some people, connection begins with touch, physical touch. Touching can feel magical. I really do feel that it is physically, emotionally and psychologically healing." Touch is the strongest nonverbal message that one person can give another. "Nurturing," "touch," and "connection" are synonymous
